“Goa’s government has introduced a groundbreaking CM Scholarship Portal, enabling 50,000 students to access pre-matric and post-matric scholarships across departments. Launched by CM Pramod Sawant, the portal streamlines applications, ensures transparency, and aims to disburse funds within 15-30 days, supporting students from KG to PG, including those studying outside Goa.”

Goa’s New Scholarship Portal: A Step Toward Inclusive Education

On July 2, 2025, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, alongside Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, relaunched the Chief Minister’s Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Portal, a unified platform designed to simplify access to financial aid for students across the state. Hosted at https://cmscholarship.goa.gov.in/, the portal integrates scholarship schemes from multiple departments, including Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Education, and Higher Education, catering to students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The initiative targets approximately 50,000 eligible students, from kindergarten to postgraduate levels, offering financial assistance for tuition fees up to ₹40,000 under various schemes. Sawant emphasized that the portal eliminates the need for physical forms, streamlining the application process and expediting fund disbursement within 15 to 30 days. This move addresses longstanding issues of delayed aid and lack of awareness, which have previously prevented many students from accessing scholarships.

The portal also extends its reach to Goan students pursuing education outside the state, such as nursing or other professional courses. Applicants upload documents online, which are verified by their respective institutions before funds are sanctioned. Additionally, the government plans to integrate the labour welfare scholarship for children of private-sector workers within the next 45 days, further broadening the portal’s scope.

Sawant highlighted the portal’s role in promoting transparency and efficiency, ensuring that financial aid reaches deserving students promptly. The initiative aligns with the state’s commitment to inclusive education, aiming to remove financial barriers and empower students to pursue their academic goals. By centralizing state and central scholarship schemes, the portal marks a significant step toward making education accessible to all in Goa.
